The Central Veterinary Conference (the CVC) comes to Kansas City! The Conference is held downtown August 24th-30th. The Central Veterinary Conference offers cutting edge information in veterinary medicine and surgery. Every year the CVC brings experts and specialists to Kansas City to share their knowledge. Dr. Robert Ulbricht, a diplomate of the American Veterinary Dental College, board-certified in dentistry will be teaching the dental wet-lab offered at the CVC. Don't miss the excitement and CE. Dr. Scott MacGee will be speaking at the 4th Annual Frostbite lectures to area veterinarians on the benefits of local nerve blocks and pre-emptive pain control.
Our doctors returned refreshed with the latest techniques in oral surgery and anesthesia monitoring from the 24th Annual Veterinary Dental Forum in San Antonio, Texas. From management of oral cancer, to innovative approaches to pain medications, to dental implants for dogs; the lectures and wet-labs were cutting edge. Dr. MacGee spent time with the anesthesiology department at University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine reviewing the latest in pain management.
Thank you for a rewarding fall. We performed periodontal surgery and treated over 12 homeless pets from Animal Haven as part of our Donated Dental Services (D.D.S.) community outreach to improve the lives of disadvantaged animals in the Kansas City area.
Things are heating up at CAD of KC. We celebrated our third year serving the Kansas City area. Thank you to all our referring veterinarians. Dr. Crowder returned from New Orleans after speaking to the Academy of General Dentistry. She shared animal dental cases with "human" dentists and had a great time. We are offering three Lunch-N-Learn wet-labs this fall. On Sept. 22 we will cover dental radiology. On October 13th it is the fundamentals of dentistry and on November 10th the lab will cover surgical extractions. Call us today for more information.
Celebrating National Veterinary Dental Month in February! Drs. Crowder and MacGee will be attending a masters course in oral surgery this winter and as always, are involved in continuing education. Companion Animal Dentistry of Kansas City is hosting more wet labs for area veterinarians this winter including a surgical extraction and intra-oral digital radiology wet lab. Dr. Crowder will be speaking on malocclusions and dentistry at the annual Frostbite seminar for veterinarians sponsored by Mission Medvet and Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Center.
Companion Animal Dentistry continues to grow. We have added a new registered veterinary technician, Leah Griffith. We are happy to have her as part of our team. Please stop by and say hello. Our doctors have been busy preparing for upcoming wet-labs, hosting several clinics in December for a Digital Radiology wet lab.
It has been a busy summer full of radiology and surgery wet-labs for area veterinarians. Dr. MacGee taught periodontal techniques and assisted during the wet-lab with Dr. Peter Emily at the Central Veterinary Conference in Kansas City. Both doctors hosted the American Veterinary Dental Society booth at the conference. We continue to grow with the support of referring veterinarians and welcome our new externs from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine.
Companion Animal Dentistry kicked off the year with lectures at Mission MedVet and the Frostbite Seminar for local veterinarians, technicians, and their staff. National Pet Dental Month in February was celebrated around Kansas City at many of the referring clinics.
We are hosting another wet-lab this month on intra-oral radiography for veterinarians, technicians, and veterinary assistants.

Drs. MacGee and Crowder attended the American Veterinary Dental Forum hosted by the American Veterinary Dental Society, American Veterinary Dental College, and the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry for 4 CE-filled days of fun in Jacksonville, Florida. The doctors attended wet labs to incorporate the latest advances in anesthesia and state of the art monitoring. In September, we also hosted an open house in conjunction with the Hen House Marketplace businesses to promote the neighborhood with free prizes and drawings. .

This month we are highlighting our Veterinary Donated Dental Services program that offers donated services to our homeless friends at area shelters. Look for our upcoming webpage featuring our sponsored pets in need of adoption. DDS Program. We are giving homeless pets a reason to smile. Also this month, we are hosting and teaching 10 veterinary clinics at a dental continuing education wet-lab at our Lenexa practice. This month we hosted a wet lab for veterinary technicians and assistants on fundamentals of dentistry. Thank you to all who were able to attend. We would like to thank Virbac and Pfizer for sponsoring this event.

Open House this month! We are hosting an open house on Thursday, April 3, 2008. Ribbon cutting ceremony and grand opening celebration starts at 11:00 am. Our doctors just recently returned from the 21st Annual Veterinary Dental Forum in Minneapolis where they learned the latest techniques including osseous implants, biopsy procedures, and the newest generation of bone grafting materials.
